  Nice meal but.......we booked for 2pm Sunday lunch on a lovely sunny day - it seems strange they don't use the outside when the Head of the River opposite was full outside with loads of people eating and drinking. Anyway, we arrved and languished at the bar for several minutes with no attention other than a hello from a busy barman. After 5 monutes we managed to sit down and about 5 minutes later we were offered a drink - very unwelcoming. The entrance area is nice with tables overlooking the river. There was a student working on a laptop taking up a whole table for 6 (the only one int he entrance) with her things spread out. She was eating out of a brought in container! Several groups were then forced to stand a she languished, in cheap comfort. It seems they were short staffed and there was no one in charge of front of house. 2 waiting staff doing an adequate job in the main restaurant, just. We eventually were taken to the table without having seen the menu. During dinner 2 people walked in and left the front door wide open and it remained so throughout our meal - it was a sunny day but cool outside, so should have been shut - luckily we were far enough away form the door not to really fee the draught - we are sensitive to these things. Overall the venue and atmosphere was really nice - more liek a relaxed cafe than a smart restaurant.
  
  The waiting at the table was fine and the food was pretty good - a Gravad Lax done unusually with a nice presentaion and very red. The mushroom with Goats Chees was very good. The Pork Belly main and Chicken special were also good. The Eton Mess fine but most expensive Strawberry Bavorois very tired and the top layer sticky and looked like it had been around a few days.
  
  Coffee was nice but spilled in the saucer, the waitress said sorry but left it there! We havd a voucher so the meal was over all good value.
  Summary, good food, excellent location but poor service on this occasion.
